Happy Friday, guys! Today I get to talk about one of my favorite additions to my 55 gallon reef, the Orbit Marine LED by Current USA.
Now there's a few reasons I chose this light, but the biggest reason simply came down to cost. While this light might not be a Kessil or a Radion, the Orbit Marine LED puts off an incredible amount of light at a fraction of the cost. Ranging in sizes from 18"-60", you'll find yourself spending between $120-200 for a great lighting system. So let's get down to the nitty gritty.
What I like most about this LED lighting is the sleekness right off the bat. Being completely adjustable between 48"-60" gave me a few options in terms of mounting, but I just set it flush to the lip of my tank. The amount of light that this thing puts off was actually really surprising to me. While I thought I was going to get what I paid for, Current USA proved me wrong on this one. And the addition of the Ramp Timer pro alleviated my only option before of using wall timers to control my lighting schedule.
While I've got the adjustable 48"-60" model, every model has the same features. What you'll appreciate with the Orbit Marine is a broad spectrum of white and blue. Both colors operate using 120 degree lenses, which will ensure that light spreads evenly across your whole tank. With 192 total LEDs, you'll enjoy 96 Dual Daylights and 96 Dual Actinics at 46 watts.
Don't worry, that's not all. With the Ramp Timer Pro, you'll have plenty of customization over your 24 hour lighting schedule. Adjusting your ramp up times, maximum and minimum intensities for each channel, and 4 preset time modes, you'll find yourself with plenty of options tailored to fitting your tanks individual needs. One of my favorite features is the Dynamic Fade modes where you can instantly simulate a lightning storm, moonlight fade, or cloud cover.
Along with your super sleek Orbit Marine light, you'll receive an IR remote and the mountable Ramp Timer Pro which comes with Velcro for easy placement anywhere on your tank.
Here's my Pros and Cons
- Affordable price
- Very sleek and modern appearance
- Customizeable Lighting Schedule
- Adjustable mounting
- Vibrant colors
- Only blue and white LEDs
- Only adjustable via the IR Remote
There you have it! I really don't have too much negative to say about it. Sure, I do wish there was a wider range of color options and that lighting could be controlled from the Ramp Timer Pro, but overall I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase of the Orbit Marine LED. If you're in a bit of a financial bind, I think the Orbit Marine LED is going to give you the most bang for your buck! So, what do you think of Current USA's Orbit Marine LED?
